If anyone still reads my journal and don't see me on those other sites, I'm just gonna link some things and then put pics of who I cosplayed. o/

- ALA 2015 recap (which boiled down to: I had fun and felt very cute during those days!)

Okay, so a list of updates.

I FINALLY GOT MY DIPLOMA!!! I apparently completely forgot to post about it last month while updating everywhere else but here. It only took like a year after I "graduated" to fix the grade that allowed me to officially get my Masters (so unimpressed, USC). Have a lookit my shiny diploma, with added and totally necessary commentary.

Relatedly, to the people who saw my freakout on DW/LJ, I'm doing much better now! Context: I need to get my teacher credential in order to be able to teach, and to get that I needed to do a paper that I hadn't finished in time. Hence: self-loathing. I'm still doing the paper but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and oh God I'm so tired of this stupid thing. Gonna try finishing it this week, with the help of a good friend/classmate, cuz I am so burnt out on this.

Uhhhh, what else. I went to the Renaissance Faire with a friend and introduced her to the baudy glory that is the Washing Well Wenches. I'm way behind on movies, but have more-or-less concrete plans to watch Captain America 2, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy in the future with friends. I've fallen out of love with BBC's Sherlock but fallen into love with the fanworks in the sane part of the Teen Wolf fandom (note the specificity of that, as I've never actually watched the damn show). The amount of fanfics I read definitely overshadow the amount of physical books I've read in the past 2 years, which add up to a big fat zero. Also found out that I'm actually capable of wholeheartedly shipping one character with more than one person, either as an OT3 or as a separate pairing, this hasn't ever really happened before.

OH OH, next big news. I'm def going to Anime Expo this year (as per usual) and am going to cosplay punk!Sailor Mars. Will post pictures of the prototype cosplay I've got going on later.

WHEN THE HELL DID KAICHOU WA MAID-SAMA END?!

Hi, guess who fell off the wagon again and is spending way too much time reading shoujo manga now? orz Still not as bad as when I was at UCSC though, dear God, I marathoned One Piece and Detective Conan while up there.

Reading Skip Beat, Dengeki Daisy, Warau Kanoko-sama, and Kaichou wa Maid-sama and am tempted to make a rec post for them cuz they're seriously excellent shoujo mangas.

If you follow me on plurk, you'll know that I've had at least 3 kitchen encounters where I try to make a certain meal and inevitably fail because how the fuck does this kitchen work. It does not help that finding shit in this kitchen is like a gigantic game of hide-and-go-seek, which I've never been good at.

Anyway, on to the lessons/reinforced tips!

- Always always check the kitchen for all your ingredients before you start thinking up a menu, even the most basic things. Last time it was "dear God, why is there no oil in the house?!" and tonight it was "mooootherfucker that is not bread, the third most important part of a PB&J and I don't have any." Yeah.

- Necessity (with a healthy dash of desperation) is the mother of invention. Or rather, mother of bullshitting what to actually make. Fell back to making tuna sandwiches, because I was hungry and they had more-or-less the correct ingredients. By which I mean tuna, mayo, onion, and a bit of salt & pepper. So glamorous.

- Creativity is good and all, but sometimes it's not worth it. There are things in the fridge. On plates and in jars. They just kinda... hang out in the fridge. I do not know how old they are or if they are expired because this refrigerator is the worst kept thing ever. They don't even cover their food before sticking it in the fridge.

- Then again, it's still good to try something new. Did you know that tuna sandwiches taste good with a bit of ketchup? I sure as hell didn't!

- If you wear glasses, wear them when you go make food. I don't care if you can kinda see well enough to make a sandwich, don't trust yourself in a strange environment that you are fumbling around in. You just know that shit's gonna happen like, oh I don't know, knocking over a glass butter container in the fridge so it smashes into a hundred pieces on the ground. :|

- Shoes are always a good thing to wear in a kitchen. Thank God I was wearing shoes.

- Give yourself a break from self-flagellation for things that are accidents. Mom isn't here to tut at you about something you should've known better. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

The keywords to this icon are especially appropriate today, but at least I've made food. May eat some of the cheesecake-pie gelato we have to calm myself down some. :|b

Uhhh, shenanigans are happening in my life so lemme get a quick rundown in bullet points

- Went to China! Got a TON of mosquito bites! GOT TO SEE MY BELOVED HANA. I count the trip as a success. Also, the old person tour was actually more enjoyable than I thought, which is either saying something about the tour itself or about how I'm getting older. :|
- Had my birthday in China, which was super lazy and I spent most of the day online.
- I have a job now! It's in Mexico! And no, I do not know any Spanish, so ~fun times will be had~ I'm moving there this Sunday and I may start up a new blog with my observations while there.
- PACIFIC RIM IS PERFECT now to watch At World's End
- That's it!

It's become harder for me to write longer posts because my attention span has actually gotten shorter as I got older. So I'll still write long posts, but I'm more spur-of-the-moment so the stuff never gets actually posted. Whoops.

In other news, I've survived Term 3. \o/ Now to get through the next one, which is shaping up to be muuuch less stressful and even a little bit fun!

Why go to the gym when one can just help the 'rents cut down innumerable tree branches and lug 'em around for three hours?

I am going to have so many bruises tomorrow.

Just got the email saying that my Sherlock soundtrack CD is getting shipped to me right now. Immediately downloaded the soundtrack online cuz hell if I'm waiting until February 6th to get my Sherlock music fix.

John's theme is still giving me feelings, the bastard. Those seven notes make its way into practically every piece and I wibble. I don't want these feelings. :(

Second season's soundtrack is coming out late February. Can't wait, Irene's theme promises to be baller.

In more sobering news, school is screwing me over and I'm currently stuck in academic limbo. I would say "same old story" but this time, it's actually throwing in a couple curveballs that I was not expecting. Well played, CSUN, you utter cock.
