After extensive fucking around with makeup, I have come to one conclusion

I am never allowed to put makeup on myself ever again, even for cosplay.

This is something not even practice will help me improve on, oh my God. I'm just gonna give up on trying to do actual hardcore cosplay until I can figure this out.

Hahahah, that's pretty much how I am with makeup too, most of the time. After a few years I went from "Wait, how does this even go on your face? And where?" to being able to spread foundation/powder to even out my skintone, apply a little color to my cheeks, and use cream eyeliner (pencils, liquid, NEVER AGAIN, but cream eyeliner works great for me, now that I've learned of its existence). Occasionally I can apply false eyelashes in less than half an hour. But more than that, I make [personal profile] akatonbo do it for me. :P

Exception - drawing/otherwise applying a beard. Maybe because a beard isn't supposed to make one look PRETTY.

I dunno, though. Practice does get you better! And getting used to your own face in make-up will take awhile. I've had instances where I'm all "OH GOD THAT'S TOO MUCH MAKE UP", but then people around me barely notice it. Maybe you could get someone good with make-up that you know to help you learn?

Makeup still confuses me, also EFFORT...

Also childhood memories of being forcibly makeup'd before performances by Asian mothers.
