Question to the masses as I'm contemplating on buying something possibly inadvisable!

What is your most expensive piece of clothing and how much did it cost? What did you consider before actually buying it?

I'm debating on buying a gorgeous-looking coat, but am still balancing out the pros/cons/risks of the endeavor, sob.

(It's such a pretty coat though no Nin stop thinking and sit on it for now)

Do shoes count? Because I paid something like $80 for thigh-high boots, and only because I had a significant discount coupon (they were regularly like $120) and it was a congratulatory gift to myself for getting a new and awesome job.

Other than footwear... I dunno. I'm honestly a thrift store shopper. I did get an $80 designer sweater with the tags still on for $1 a couple years ago, and that's how most of my clothes shopping goes. Possibly the most expensive item of clothing I've ever purchased was either my yukata (around $50ish), and after that, the corset/skirt set I just ordered a couple days ago. Because it was $33. Marked down from $60. And it is purple and gorgeous and I really hope it fits.

In both cases, the deciding factor was "It's on sale and it's gorgeous AND IT'S PURPLE." So uh, I am perhaps not a good influence here...
